Brian JM Matsuda's course was an engaging lesson on outlining a story using the "Manga Method". Matsuda's method focuses on emotion & growth in a story and by following his lesson you can create a storyboard for a story about yourself. Aside from these lessons, his lesson on the mindset of "I will show my work when I'm good at it" is something every adult learner should pay attention to.

Ray K I'm a beginner who wants to learn how to do a comic strip. This class helps me see clearly the process of doing it. The instructor makes it so simple and easy to understand. I really appreciated the technique he's taught. Now I know how to begin. It would be great if Mr. Naomasa Matsuda creates another class for students who don't know how to draw.

Quiet D This was an excellent class and very straight-forward. I have been drawing and writing for a long time and this is by far the best method to keep everything in perspective and organized. It is very easy to follow. I also appreciate quite a lot what teacher Naomasa Matsuda stated at the end: in order to make progress as quickly as possible you need to show your work, and take criticism as it comes. A Sa I'm a writer, who recently got interested in comics and manga, and i quickly realized that the "episodic" nature of manga is quite different from books and even short stories. I was really struggling with it, but thanks to this course i was able to understand how to approach comics and manga differently. The explanation was simple but thorough and it's easy to tell that the teacher has a lot of experience with teaching. He managed to keep me engaged throughout and i found the overall lessons to be quite fun.

Ashton Its really easy to follow and it helps you get an idea of what to do and how to go about it. Anyone new to creating manga could use the lessons that he is offering.

Veronica This class is like chess for story structure. I greatly appreciate the non-condescending attitude and a clear mastery of teaching logic?makes it seem easy. Further, I appreciated the technical presentation, lo-fi though it was, it added to the surprising intelligence of these pared down sequences. In my case, I had only been looking to map out some scenes I had written for clarity. Now this teacher has piqued my interest in manga as a drawing genre. The appeal of it remains elusive, however, the teacher's talent is undeniable. In the end, this course provided a much-needed reminder of the social aspect of creativity, and the confidence that grounds it, however tentative. Thank you and looking forward to learning more! M Simamora Very inspiring class. I joined other classes about making comic but only this one empasizes emotions, which is a very important element in storytelling. I also love the simplification of story making using the 12 questions method and how to rearrange them into a clear sequence. And the important thing about progress is very motivating as well. Love the class so much.

M Hudson I found this class to be full of beneficial information and instruction. Yes, it is simple and straight forward but that is what makes it practical and useful. The teacher (Matsuda-san) has an infectious enthusiasm and passion, and I very much appreciated his calm, to-the-point style of delivery. I like drawing pictures for my grandkids, but I have wanted for some time to combine those drawings into a comic strip or story. This class has given me the structure (and the confidence!) to do that. Thank you very much!

I really enjoy it, very useful tips, I was able to create the first outline of my story, know my characters deeper, and have an idea of what should I draw in each panel ( which is something I still struggle with but this course helped me to understand it a little bit more) I would which another course from Naomasa Matsuda he is a great instructor and manga artist!!
